When I first read about La Tale, I couldn't help but think about all the other "2D, side-scrolling, action, anime style..." games that I have had the pleasure of playing recently. So, being the quizzical type of person that I am, I downloaded the client and attempted to find out what made this game different from the sea of uniformity. It is true that there are a hand full of similarities when comparingLatale Ely　to Maple story and other like genre games. However, Latale Ely managed to pull me in where all others failed: they give you so many choices! The not one but two hotbars are just begging to be filled with all your spells and abilities! It's this level of customization that all games should strive for.The first thing I noticed about this game was that, though still a beta, installation and patching process went smoother than most other beta tests I have been in recently. The language translations, so far, are logical and flow with the natural progression of what appears to be, a fun and whimsical adventure. The combat was fast paced and fun, I was able to hit multiple monsters while at the same time not making me feel completely over powered.

As far as questing is concerned, I liked it... alot. The introductory quests were very enjoyable and even some of the staple quests were repeatable; which went a long way in helping me not only learn to play but also increase my overall enjoyment factor. Whenever conversing with a non-player character, a anime style drawing comes up depicting the said NPC. A nice addition but nothing new to the genre.

I did run into one road block however, and that was the map layout. To get to an area with monsters that were my level, I was required to go right 3 maps then drop down a level and head back two. Seems a bit logically off but I figured it out, so I'm sure anyone else can.

Graphically the game is a fusion of Grandchase and Maple story. The character models are more of a full grown avatar of Grandchase than the chibi version of Maplestory. Some may like it, some may not... regardless it is done well. Your character can even express emotion while attacking, which I found to be a very fresh and fun addition to the game play experience. My character seemed perpetually pissed off, even if he was wearing pretty red clothes.

Audio was average for a game of this type, nice and upbeat but nothing emotion inspiring. Player, monster, and skill audio all matched well but again, nothing awe inspiring. However the variety of monsters as well as overall silliness of the game appears to more than make up for the lacking audio.

Additionally, I picked up several PVP warp tokens from monsters. While I did not feel confident enough to test my mettle against the other players on the server, I was happy that there was a PVP function in the game. With all of the spells and abilities available to players, it is sure to be an amazing experience while battling with other players.
